Minor Peewees Finish Season with Strong Tournament Play
The Ice Sharks Minor Peewee team finished up their spring hockey season with an excellent effort at the very competitive OTTF Spring Classic tournament last weekend. This was the Ice Sharks third tournament in three weeks and capped off a successful spring season.
The Ice Sharks first game was Friday afternoon against Skillz Express. The Ice Sharks played a strong game and, although losing 3-1, played a better game than the score showed.
The second game that day was against the Atlantic All Stars. The Ice Sharks carried the play initially and scored first only to see the All Stars come back and score two consecutive goals. Late in the third period with less than a minute to go and the goalie out of the net, the Ice Sharks scored the tying goal to end the game 2-2.
Saturday saw the Ice Sharks play the highly touted Belle Tire team. Belle Tire came out strong in the first period and played a very physical and fast game. The Ice Sharks found themselves down by several goals before they were able to muster a goal of their own. Although the Ice Sharks lost 6-1, the score could have been more lopsided had it not been for some excellent goaltending - especially in the third period.
The Ice Sharks' final game was late Saturday afternoon against the THI All Stars - a New Hampshire-based team. The Ice Sharks started this game on fire and jumped to a 3-0 lead. Both teams scored a goal before the game ended with the result being a 4-1 win for the Ice Sharks.
Although facing some very tough competition in this tournament, the Ice Sharks never quit and continued to play strong regardless of the score.
