Bluewater Recap
The Icesharks were dealt a tough draw in the tournament. They knew that they would have to come out with their best in order to move on. The first game put the Sharks up against the St Louis Elite coached by former NHLer Jeff Brown. The St Louis team is one of the top teams in North America for this age group. The Sharks could not contain St Louis and the final score was 11-1. The second game was against another team from the States called Mt Clemons Wolves. The Sharks played a much more aggressive game but fell short with an 8-4 loss. The team had a team get together back at the hotel to make a farewell presentation to one of their own. The Ice Sharks wanted to give a proper goodbye to one of their team mates who is moving away and make sure that he will never forget the Maitland Ice Sharks. Good Luck McEwen's. The third game of the tournament had the Sharks play against a team rated in the top five in North America called Honeybaked. Although the score was a 5-0 loss, the Sharks out played Honeybaked for most of the game but couldn't capitalize on their scoring chances, sometimes we call this snake bitten. The fourth and final game was against Toledo. The Sharks wanted to end the season on a high note. Once the puck was dropped, they never looked back. They came out flying on all cylinders, winning the game 5-0. After the game in the dressing room was, in my opinion, the summary of the Spring Hockey season. The kids were weeping because they knew this was the end but they wanted to continue on because they were having so much fun. This is where I tip my hat off to the organization, the coaching staff and parents for making this such a wonderful life long experience. I wish everyone the most success in the future. Thanks, Howie.
