Minor Peewee Ice Sharks Win First Game
The Maitland Minor Peewee Ice Sharks won their first game of the AAA Spring League Season with a convincing 2-0 win over the Zone.  After only two practices the boys led by coach Shaun Peet played a terrific two way game with lots of forechecking and some solid play in their own end.

Andrew Gooding notched the first goal of the season after being sent in alone on a nice feed from Michael McMurren.  Gooding beat the Zone tender with a powerful shot to the low stick side.  Tyler Hak notched the last goal of the game with a terrific deke on the Zone goalie.  The play was set up by a commanding rush from blueliner Drew Gross and a fantastic back hand pass to spring Hak.

Eric Ryan started the game in the pipes for the Ice Sharks and was relieved half way through by Daniel Dekoning.  Both goalies turned away numerous Zone chances and controlled all the second chance opportunities with limited rebounds.

Overall, the game was well played and the families and fans of the 96 Ice Sharks were entertained all afternoon.  The Ice Sharks hope to keep the ball rolling for the next action slated for St Thomas at the end of the month!
