A LITTLE TASTE OF SUNDAY HOCKEY
The Tykes finish on top of their group to advance to the semi's on Sunday at the Collingwood Blue Thunder tourney.

What a week-end on and off the ice! The tykes came out flying on Friday making the start to the Thunder tourn. an enjoyable one. The Ice Sharks first game was against the Georgian Bay Thunder. At the 9:00 minute mark, Kyle Stanbury put the Sharks on the board scoring on a pass from Braeden Holloway. The Thunder would bounce back and by the 5:00 min. mark of the first they would take the a 2-1. With 1 min. remaining in period 1 Kyle Stanbury scored his 2nd of the game to even the match at 2 assisted by Braeden Holloway and Leah Herrfort. The scored remained 2-2 for most of the 2nd but with 59 sec. left Braeden Holloway would put the Sharks ahead 3-2 scoring on a pass from Sheldon Pryce. The Thunder wouldn't leave us alone tying the game at 3, 5 min. into the third. Then with 4 min. left in the game, Kendon Zettle would drive the net and put the rebound in after Riley Kuepfer and Carter McLlwain combined to get a great shot on net. In the dying seconds of the game, the Thunder put the pressure on pulling the goalie but Tanner Reid found the empty net on a pass from Kendon Zettle. Great job between the pipes by Bobby and a solid effort by all to win game one.

The Sharks carried momentum from game 1 into game 2 vs Regional Express. Kyle Stanbury scored the first goal of the game after a nice pass out of our zone by Leah Herrfort. Kendon Zettle would give us a 2 goal lead with 5 min. left in the first assisted by Tanner Reid and Eric Vander Eyk. With 2 min. remaining in the first Riley Kuepfer gave us a 3-0 lead assisted by Leah Herrfort. The Sharks would control the second period and at with 32 sec. left in the second Tanner Reid scored on a nice pass from Carter McLlwain and Kendon Zettle.

Heading into the third with a 4-0 lead the Express would try to get back into the game at the 10:00 min. mark but that would be all and Bobby shut the door in net and Riley Kuepfer sealed the deal with 5 min. left assisted by Sam Dupuis to take game 2  by a score of 5-1.

It would prove to be a tougher match on Sat. against the Junior Rangers. The Sharks would come out a little flat this game and before they knew it the Rangers had a 3-0 lead. Sheldon Pryce would give the Sharks some life scoring on a pass from Braeden Holloway and Kyle Stanbury. After the first the Sharks were down 4-1. The rest of the game would be back and forth with Bobby just stoning the Rangers and the Sharks just coudn't get a bounce to go our way. Riley Kuepfer would finally score on a 6 on 3 power play when we pulled the goalie after The Rangers took 2 penalties. That would be all and the Sharks would suffer their first loss 6-2.

Having the best record in their group, the Sharks advanced to the semi final on Sunday. Yes, the Ice Sharks are heading to the semi final on Sunday against the Bluewater Sharks!. The Ice Sharks took the Bluewater sharks a little too lightly. Going into todays game the Ice Sharks had beat them twice in exhibition so we knew they would come out flying looking for revenge. The Ice Sharks would score when Kyle Stanbury blasted one by the Sarnia goalie assisted by Braeden Holloway. The Bluewater Sharks came right back to tie the game at 1. Sam Dupuis would give us a 2-1 lead on a nice pass from Jack Lukas and Brennan Long. Sarnia didn't give up scoring again to tie the game at 2. The Ice Sharks were getting bit all over the ice but caught a break and Braeden Holloway would regain the lead on a nice pass out front by Parker Miller. With the game tied at 3 and 4 min. left in the game, Bluewater scored to take the lead 4-3.Trying everything in the dying seconds of the game, the Ice Sharks could not over come the Bluewter Sharks this time.

The team never gave up all week-end and had a great hockey experience on and off the ice as did the coach who found out how sharp skates really are!!. Good Job by all and good luck heading into the last tournament next week-end in Sarnia.
