98's Perfect in Round Robin Play @ Thunder Tourny
The 98's went through the round robin action with a perfect 4-0 record, at the Hockey Hilites Thunder Spectacular tournament.
Unfortunately in the semi-finals, the challenge of recovering from a 3-0 first period deficit was too much to overcome, falling 6-4 to Xcelerate.

The first game was up against a very tough opponent the Hockey Loft. The action was very good, with scoring opportunities at both ends of the ice, and great goal-tending. The Ice Sharks were able to hold on for a 2-1 victory.
Game #2 pitted the Sharks up against PSE.  This seemed to be a "bragging rights" game, as players from each team are used to playing with each other.  The Ice Sharks came out of the gate hungry and ready for battle, the puck was going Sharks way right from the beginning, as we scored early and often.  The final score of the game was 6-2 for the Ice Sharks.
In the 3rd game the Ice Sharks took on Perry's Wild, the eventual tournament champions.  The game was a very close affair, with many good (and not so good) body checks.  The Sharks were not intimidated by the Wild's on ice antics, skating away with a 4-2 victory.
The 4th game was against another tough opponent, Edge Hockey. Again there were many great scoring opportunities, good defensive plays and great goal-tending. The Sharks managed to hold on again, for a 2-1 victory.
For the semi-final on Sunday morning, the Ice Sharks seemed to be a little tired, and it took a while to get everyone in motion.  Xcelerate scored an early goal, and then two more before the first period ended.  The Sharks started to show some life in the second, and then poured it on in the third. With the goalie pulled the Ice sharks scored to make it 5-4.  However, with the goalie still on the bench Xcelerate managed to block an Ice Shark shot, and then shot the puck the length of the ice, for an empty netter. Final scored was a 6-4 loss.

The coaching staff is extremely pleased with the play of the 98's this past weekend.  With the exception of one bad period, the team competed hard and showed good determination in many tightly played games.
