2002's Hit The Ice

The 2002 Ice Sharks have hit the ice with speed, skill, and enthusiasm. The team brings together 8 centres with players from South Huron, Blyth, Wingham, Goderich, Mitchell, Bruce Peninsula, Milverton, and Kincardine. Knowing they will be force to be reckoned with they have entered into three tournaments this season.

The CanLan Spring Showdown will be there first test on April 29 to May 1.  With players like Thomas Gangl, Jared DeWinter, Kyle Dunn, Callem McMann, and Braeden McNaughten minding the blue line and keeping the offence away from our net, opponents will struggle finding their way to the Ice Sharks Zone and striking the net.  These five are fast, big, and determined heads up hockey defensemen.

The second challenge of the spring season will be in Stratford May 13-16 as the team plays in the Thunder Spring Spectacular.  Opponents will find themselves flat footed and left wondering “how did they do that?” as the forward prowess of Nathan Naves, Mason Weber, Dakota Coultes, Ethan Hewitt, Nolan Regier, Bobby Leis, Sam Young, Zach Wall and Kaden Hoggarth bring their “A” game to the competition.  Speed and tenacity describes this talented group of players.

The season ends with a trip to Collingwood May 27-29 for the Blue Thunder Cup.  Dylan Kints and Max Newson are minding the net this season with moves that have only been seen on the TSN Sports Centre Highlights of the Night.  We expect the games to be low scoring for our opponents with these two backing up the team.

The team thanks our Snap On sponsor for helping with funding the team’s efforts this season.  The 2002's plan to bring back three championship trophies and Coach Hewitt sums it up with the following quote: “With the team’s motto “try your best”; if these kids bring their best to each game, they are unstoppable.”   You can catch the action at the first exhibition game on April 27th in Walkerton at 5:30 as the team takes on Quick Feet.
