2005 Ice Sharks play Hard in Elmira
First 2 games of the season for the Maitland Ice Shark 2005's were in the loss column but both players and coaches learned plenty and are ready to step up to the next level and will definetly be ready for their next opponents.

Today started off with a tough battle against our rivals from last year the Phase Hockey Green Gloves. The Green Gloves came out flying in this one with 3 goals in the first period. Down 3-0 the Ice shark players continued to battle and showed that no matter what they were not going to give up. This attitude then began to pay off, With excellent puck movement and hard skating both Sam Barrett and Owen shore were able to score and close the gap to 3-2. The score would stay this way with end to end hockey and great saves by Wyatt Fassl until late in the final period when the ice sharks began to slightly lose focus and allow the green gloves to get 3 more quick goals to put up a final score of 6-2. all in all a great showing rom every player on the Ice Shark squad.
After a huge buffet lunch at the Crossroads in Elmira the Ice Sharks were now up against the always tough Regional Express team from Brantford. But the large lunch proved costly in this one as the players feet were not moving well and the speed they needed just wasn't there. Regional Express were able to put 10 goals into our net but not with out Wyatt fassl standing on his head and coming up with 41 saves on 51 shots. Next time I think a light lunch is in order. No matter what at the end of the day everyone seemed to have a great time and there was still plenty of smiles in the dressing room. What we learned today was that we need to keep pushing ourselves to be better and to strive to want to play and gel as a team.  Team play is a definite priority and by the end of this spring season thats what we will be. A Team a really really Good Team. Next up for the 2005 Ice Sharks is a visit to Walkerton to play Quick feet with a 5:30pm start on Thursday April 18.
