Season comes to an end in Collingood
The Tykes traveled to Collingwood and Wasaga Beach to compete in the Blue Thunder Cup. They played four strong games but had difficulty scoring on route to four losses and an early exit.
Game one was against a familiar opponent in the Waterloo 11's. The score didn't reflect the Ice Sharks play as they out shot Waterloo 15-5. Some penalties disrupted the flow and in the end the Tykes fell 3-1 in a game they very much deserved to win.
Game two saw more of the same with the Ice Sharks dominating the play but unable to convert on the score sheet. They fell behind 3-0 in the first period but battle back to tie the game at 3 in the second period. The third was looking good until a goal mouth scramble resulted in a Quickfeet goal. After a power play goal, Quickfeet sealed a 5-3 victory.
Game 3 saw the Tykes jump out to an early lead against the Blue Thunder. This was a very close game through two periods but in the third our kids legs seemed to leave them and the game opened up with the Blue Thunder running the score to 7-1.
Lucky for us we still had a chance and a semi final would see them go to the finals on Sunday. They put up another great fight against Blue Thunder but eventually relented in a 5-2 loss.
Some great friendships were made by both the kids and the adults. Almost everyone was able to make the final team dinner as we celebrated a great season of Ice Sharks hockey!
