The 2000 Maitland Ice Shark Tyke team finished up their spring hockey season with an excellent effort at the very competitive Regional Express Spring Showdown Tournament.
The 2000 team played their first game against a tough Regional Blue team. The Sharks played an aggressive game but fell short with a 5-1 loss. The Ice Sharks were dealt a tough draw in game 2 of the tournament against the top ranked Niagara Outlaws and the result was a 10-0 loss.
The Tyke team shook off the losses of day one of the tournament and skated strongly on day two. Game three pitted the Sharks against the 99ers. The score stayed close until the last few minutes on the game when the 99ers managed to slip one by our goaltender and clinch the 5-4 win. The Sharks played the final game of the weekend against a very strong Pro Hockey team. The game featured end-to-end play with several key stops by both goalies and solid play overall by both squads. Unfortunately, the Pro Hockey team handed the young Sharks a tough 5-3 defeat. The Sharks provided us with some really fantastic and exciting hockey throughout the weekend
The Maitland Ice Shark Tykes had a tremendous team development over a very short period of time. We would like to thank the coaches and staff for their time & effort that they have put into making this an enjoyable AAA hockey experience. All the players (and parents) had a great time and really appreciated the opportunity to participate in an awesome hockey experience from a great hockey organization. Thanks for the memories!!
Continued success with your winter teams.
