2014 Ice Sharks Go Back to Back
The 2014 ice sharks returned to the ice this spring with some new additions in hopes of building upon last year’s success and the players did not disappoint winning both the Niagara Battle and London Rising Stars tournaments while posting a 12-0 record.

First taking part in the Niagara Battle the team had to dig deep as injuries and sickness left the team shorthanded, the kids seemed extra motivated to bring home the championship for their teammates that so wanted to be on the ice but were there to support them.   The team ultimately went 6-0 in the tournament in dominant fashion culminating in a 4-1 win in the championship game.    Two weeks later it was off to the London Rising Stars tournament where the competition was much deeper, but the ice sharks were back to a full squad and were much looking forward to the challenge.    The first game was a good indication of the competition as it was 2-2 late in the 2nd period when the ice sharks poured it on as they would do all tournament in the 3rd period on route to a 7-2 win.   After a 3-0 round robin resulting in a 2nd place finish the sharks punched their ticket to the semifinal with a convincing win in the quarter final.   Sunday turned out to be filled with drama.   The semifinal was a rematch of the first game with the Nithriver Nighthawks who came out fast and owning a 1-0 lead after the first period and also owning most of the play.  Goaltending was huge keeping the score at only 1-0.   As they did all tournament the ice sharks responded in the 2nd and 3rd periods and dominated the rest of the game and needed every bit of that effort as the game winner was scored with just over a minute left in the game ensuring the 2-1 win.   The final game against the Southwest Snipers was a back and forth affair with both teams playing extremely hard.   Again, when needed the sharks goaltenders made huge saves preserving 1 goal leads which led to some very timely goals by the sharks to bring home the championship.   This year's team got contributions from everyone in the lineup whether it was big saves, shot blocks or big goals.   Thanks to the players, coaches and parents for their commitment to another very successful spring season!!   Also congrats to the 2011 Ice Sharks on winning both their tournaments this spring!!
