OTTF Spring Classic
The Novice Team came up against some tough competition in Mississauga. The first game was played against a team they had played before in the previous tournament called the Chiefs. The record against the Chiefs was one and one with the rubber match being played early in the morning. Both teams were matched up very well with the Maitland Ice Sharks falling a little short with a 4-3 loss. The next game was up against a strong team from Boston called the JR Bruins. The Sharks played tough throughout the entire game with outstanding performances by the goal tending. The final result was 7-2 loss. The team enjoyed a social gathering afterwards back at the hotel, getting to know each other's family a little better. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic game of soccer and a delicious barbecue.
Saturday morning faced the Ice Sharks against a team called the Junior Buzzers. The sharks started off slow and could not overcome the Buzzers, losing the game 7-1. After the loss, the Sharks were bound and determined that they belong with the elite hockey clubs and wanted to show everyone that they could play.
The final game of the weekend placed the Sharks against a team they knew nothing about called the Durham Icebreakers. But the team came out flying right from the very beginning, winning the game 5-3.
In the end, the team learned some valuable lessons on the weekend and got to take home some fantastic memories.
