Minor PeeWee, 2010 (Maitland PEP Ice Sharks AAA Spring Hockey)

The 98’s participated in the first annual Hockey Hi-lites tournament in Stratford this past weekend. They started off the tournament on Friday night against the Cougar Wave’s out of Burlington, falling 6-0 score. 

The 98 Icesharks played three exhibition games over this past week and gained plenty of experience to move forward playing together as a team. In a short period of time they were able to grow and learn from each other. The first exhibition game was against the greatly improved Quickfeet team from Walkerton in which it was a back and forth match with the sharks coming away with a 4 -2 victory. On Sunday they were matched against the Regional Express organization in a Home and Home series. The Icesharks had a difficult time finding their stride and fell both games in a 5-0 and 9-3 loss. The waiting game is over. I would like to welcome all players and parents to this year's 98 Maitland Ice Sharks. We have a good selection of talent that spreads out through all our communities. It was a grueling selection process back and forth watching, listening and talking with all sorts of people in Huron, Grey, Perth and Bruce County. The tournaments that we will be playing in are the Northshore, St Thomas and the Hockey Hi-Lites in Stratford. We look forward to this year's spring tournaments. The team selection process is moving forward. We have roughly 10 players and 1 goalie committed to this years spring hockey club as of the 31-Jan-10. We will make sure that we take our time to communicate and fulfill the team roster by it's 1-March-10 deadline. I am slowly getting around to introduce myself to the young athletes and answer any questions that the parents might have regarding the 98 Maitland Icesharks team. I hope that everyone brought in the New Year with with a bang! because I know I did. I was able to see some familiar faces over the holidays and unfortunately I was unable to see others. I wish everyone a prosperous new year and may all your wishes come true.The 2010 spring season is fast approaching and we are moving forward with the team selection. We are working out the minor details of the Teams budget, usually ice time, tournaments fees and of course entertainment.
