Regional Spring Showdown
The kids were up against some tough competition at this years Regional Spring Showdown in Brantford, Ontario. They lost all four games in pool play but won the C final in exciting fashion.
After a lopsided loss against Draft Day USA on Friday morning they bounced back with a closely fought contest in a 5-4 loss to Waterloo '11. Saturday saw more of the same elite competition as the IceSharks fell to the Regional Gold and Vision Hockey squads. The kids learned a lot from these games and got a glimpse of where they want to be, the day was ruled a success as the kids met the most famous hockey dad of all, Walter Gretzky who had all the time in the world to take a picture with each and every kid.
Sunday saw the IceSharks get a chance at redemption vs Waterloo '11 and they didn't disappoint. After going down 1-0 early they battled back to tie the game in the 2nd and eventually take the lead. After a couple of penalties to the IceSharks, Waterloo '11 was able to tie the game but a late goal saw the Tykes take back the lead. With the goalie pulled, Waterloo '11 pushed hard to tie the game but the IceSharks were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory to end the tournament on a high note.
