Better late than never!! The Tykes traveled to Sarnia on the May long weekend to compete in the Bluewater Sharks Tournament.
Game 1 was a sluggish start as the kids never really got going against a team from Bloomfield, MI on route to a 7-0 loss. Game two was another tough test against the eventual runner up, the Komoka Icemen. They played a much improved game as compared to the first contest but came out on the wrong end again. You would never know they were 0-2 as they kids all had a blast at the hotel pool and playing mini sticks. Game three was a much better result against Oakland Kodiaks as they skated to a 5-0 victory at the home of the Sarnia Sting, Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The final game saw the kids up against the eventual champion Young Guns from Toronto. The kids gave it everything they had and almost escaped the first period tied 0-0. Eventually the Young Guns speed and skill wore our kids down as they eventually won 9-1.
It was a great tournament on the ice and off the ice for parents and players, everyone is looking forward to the final tournament, the Blue Thunder Cup, in Collingwood. The kids and coaches have worked hard and expect to end the season on a high note!!
