The 1999 Ice Sharks gained some valuable experience this past weekend at the OTTF Spring Classic. The Toronto based tournament brings top Spring teams from across North America. In the first game, the Sharks played a highly skilled Boston Junior Bruins team. The Sharks battled hard and drew a number of penalties against the aggressive Bruins. The 1999 Maitland Ice Sharks showed their teeth at the Spring Shootout this past weekend in Burlington. The Sharks started the tourney on Thursday with a 4-2 win over Pro Hockey (Pavey). Later on Thursday, the Sharks defeated Pro Hockey (Peca) 5-4 on a last minute marker from Noah Kuno. Friday morning saw the Sharks play the World Class Allstars. The 99 Ice Sharks battled the Zone Training to a 7-7 exhibition tie on Sunday in Wingham. The Sharks started slow and found themselves down 4-2 at the end of the first. The kids forechecked much better in the 2nd and 3rd periods, causing turnovers and finally tying the game with 28 seconds to play. Scoring for the Sharks were Carter Collinson (3), Noah Kuno, Josh Gotfried, Kade Landry and Joseph Yuntd. Brock Baier and Joe McConnell split the goaltending duties. The 1999 Ice Sharks will play host to The Zone Training 1999 team (www.thezonetraining.ca) on Apr 29 in Wingham. This will be the first exhibition game for both teams as they prepare for the 2007 Spring season. Game time is 3:00 p.m.

The 1999 and 1998 Ice Sharks are pleased to announce their participation in the prestigious Bluewater Sharks tourney. Each year, this tournament attracts top Spring organizations from North America. While the competition will be stiff, the coaching staffs of each team expect a solid showing from both the Tyke and Novice teams.
