Ice Sharks Major Peewee '95 Coaches Return and are Ready to Go!
The Major Peewee Ice Sharks are building on last year’s success with the return of last year’s coaching staff.

General Manager Marc Hodgkinson is again providing the overall leadership for the team. Hailing from Listowel, Marc has assembled a staff that includes former OHL and professional players. Marc has coached hockey and baseball over the past 20 years in Listowel, Palmerston, Cambridge and Cobourg. Marc is very much looking forward to working with the coaches who are all players of past teams that he coached.

Matt Desmeules is returning as Head Coach of the ’95 team. Originally from Sudbury, Matt was an accomplished Tier II A player during a time that included try-outs with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL. Matt’s passion for playing was eclipsed by his desire to coach hockey. Matt’s coaching experience includes being an assistant coach with the Waterloo Siskins of the Midwestern OHA group. Matt is currently the Head Coach of the Kitchener Rangers AAA Major Midget team.

Assistant Coach Ryan Harnett grew up in Uxbridge and was a hometown player that enjoyed playing AAA spring hockey out of Bowmanville. Ryan, a Detroit Jr. Red Wing draft pick, spent 5 years playing Tier II A in Ontario and on the east coast before turning pro with the Brantford Motts Clamatos of the COHL and then onto the Central League. Ryan finished his career in Cambridge as a member of the Cambridge Hornets on teams that included Steven Rice, Gilbert Dionne and Peter Zezel.

Assistant Coach Abe Herbst grew up in Harriston where he played all of his hockey as a hometown player enjoying the great competition that spring hockey offered. In 1996, Abe was a first round draft choice of the Sarnia Sting where he played for 2 years before finishing his OHL career in Sudbury. Upon completion of his OHL career, Abe played for the University of Western Ontario of the CIAU. Abe currently plays Senior A hockey for the Palmerston 81’s.

Trainer for the team will be Pat Conlon from Goderich and the Manager is Craig Metzger from Seaforth.
