The Atom age Icesharks came together in a short amount of time. The coaching staff tried to compile the team up with some veterans who have had some experience playing the Triple AAA hockey and players who were complete rookies. We were very pleased to see the dynamics created by the veterans taking the rookies under their wings and supporting them through the short hockey seasons
Our goal at the end of the spring was for the kids to learn life lessons and to create memories that later on in their careers they will be able to apply. The kids were at times taken out of their comfort zone and put into situations that they had to respond to, or deal with, in order to gain that experience. Although at times they experienced some tough situations they seem to rally around each other as a team and pulled through it.
The coaching staff would also like to thank the Maitland Icesharks organization for giving the kids an opportunity to experience playing in a higher calibre of hockey then what they are normally use to playing in their home town hockey.
In closing we have all grown and learned from each other from having the opportunity to experience this type of hockey. We wish everyone the utmost success in your hockey careers whether you are drafted to the NHL or you are the first round pick to your local Rec-league The important thing is to remember to have fun and enjoy the game because that’s the way we roll.
