Atom, 2009 (Maitland PEP Ice Sharks AAA Spring Hockey)

The Atom age Icesharks came together in a short amount of time. The coaching staff tried to compile the team up with some veterans who have had some experience playing the Triple AAA hockey and players who were complete rookies. We were very pleased to see the dynamics created by the veterans taking the rookies under their wings and supporting them through the short hockey seasons

Submitted by Mark Langridge After a strong Collingwood Tourney the 98 Icesharks were determined to make their mark at the 2009 Northshore Challenge cup. The opening game against Xcelerate Hockey out of Belmont Ontario proved to be a tough starter for the Icesharks. The team played well and the 5-1 score did not reflect the hard work of the Icesharks. The breaks were not going our way and the Xcelerate goalie played very well. It was not until late in the game that we were able to break the Xcelerate shutout.

The 98 Maitland Iceshark Atoms recently participated in the Blue Thunder Cup Tournament in Wasaga Beach and Collingwood Area.

Article written by Mark Langridge Riley Cribbin opened up the scoring early in the 1st period, on a pass from Brett Burrows, but the lead did not last long and Quick Feet answered back with a deflection over the shoulder of Tyler Reiner.  This goal came after Tyler had just stoned the opposition on a penalty shot.  With the score tied at 1, a bad clearing play by Quick Feet lead to a go ahead Ice Shark goal late in the first.  Once again Quick Feet came back to tie it up with a quick backhand past the Sharks goalie.
